Engineering experience that gets difficult projects unstuck

I solve difficult technical problems.

I am an independent consulting engineer with more than four decades of experience in machine vision, barcode technology, image processing, embedded systems, software architecture, and product development.

My work has ranged from low-level embedded software and FPGA design to commercial barcode verification systems, patented inventions, research engineering, and the investigation of subtle algorithmic failures that resist ordinary debugging.

What I help companies do

Investigate difficult failures

Find the real cause when measurements disagree, algorithms behave inconsistently, or a product works in the lab but fails in production.

Design better algorithms

Develop practical imaging, decoding, measurement, and embedded algorithms that can survive real-world data and hardware.

Move products forward

Bridge the gap between concept, prototype, standards compliance, production software, and customer use.

I am most useful when a project is technically important, unusually difficult, and no longer responding to routine fixes.
